Hello there such a log record our server logs What does this mean?

Decreased protection level to: 0

Increased protection level to: 1

This is a normal log entry. It happens when more than 10 new connections/s are attempted. It is part of the DOS protection system.

I wonder if this "DOS protection" actually does anything.
